The Artists and Artisans

On the Addicted to Sock Knitting the group we are very supportive of independent artists and artisans. We do all we can to support them and their businesses. When I decided to create Addicted to Sock Knitting the website/business I knew I could do no less than we have been doing in the group. So… Here on A.S.K. dot com you will not find commercially processed yarn. Could I make more money selling commercial yarn? Maybe but that is not who I am or what this is all about. I prefer working with small businesses because we have been small business owners ourselves for well over 10 years now.

So here you will find only hand dyed yarns either dyed by myself or other independent artists. As much as possible all other products will also be made by other artisans (lotions, wool wash, and other sock knitting related items). I am thrilled to support other female small business owners in this way (not that men don’t own small businesses but for the most part sock knitting related small businesses are owned and operated by women- and usually Mom’s like me).

Here is a list of all of the businesses I am working with on Addicted to Sock Knitting .com . These are businesses I believe in and support. They are making quality products and are amazing artists. Not only that they are amazing women and have been such an encouragement to me!

AlohaBlu produces amazing hand dyed yarns and roving. She is also a photographer and she uses her photos as her inspirations for the color ways she creates.  I have ordered from her several times and just love her work!

Pandia’s Jewels produces beautiful hand dyed yarns and roving. She is a fellow Dr Who fan and I think she is just the bees knees! You will not be disappointed with her yarns.

Purple Goddess Design produces hand dyed yarns and rovings. She is a local fiber artist that has been brain storming with me on all kinds of goodies that you will find here in the near future. Alicia believes in supporting small businesses and local artists. She has connected me with other artists to come up with new products for the website. I appreciate her help and encouragement very much.

Designs By Megan creates lotions, soap, lip balms etc.. Her products will be in the Pedicure Sock Kits and Sock of the Month Kits.

One Handmade Life produces hand dyed yarn and fiber for spinners. Her yarn was featured in our first giveaway and got such a huge response I messaged her right away to see if she would be interested in creating a couple of exclusive colorways for the website. Can’t wait to see what she comes up with- stay tuned!

gnarledpaw  produces some amazing hand dyed yarns.. Her yarn will be featured in our first Sock of the Month kit.

MarigoldJen has been a favorite dyer of mine for a few years now. She has created an exclusive colorway for the shop and will be the featured dyer for Decembers Sock of the Month kit.

KnitMona is coming up with some amazing yarn! She will be dying the yarn for November’s Sock of the Month Kit and is working on an exclusive colorway for the shop.

Mintrain is a new dyer that I am working with. I love her work. She is working on an exclusive colorway for the shop.

Supernatural Yarns created a colorway called Elsa (from the movie Frozen) that I fell in love with. She will be doing up a dozen skeins of Elsa for the January sock of the Month Kit.

Groovy Hues Yarn‘s Suzanne has become a dear friend. She dyed Blacklight Poster for the shop and has also dyed the yarn for the February sock of the month kit.

Neeley’s Knits Ashley is an amazing dyer of striping yarn. I worked with her to created “A Day in Stars Hollow” a Gilmore Girls inspired yarn and we also collaborated on an Easter inspired yarn on the colors of the Easter Marshmallow Peeps. The yarn is featured in the March 2015 Sock of the Month kits.

Manic Pixie Dream Yarn Bex creates some amazing yarn. Her yarn Cloudy with a Chance of Rainbows is featured in the April 2015 Sock of the Month kits.
